California Analytical Model 300HFID
Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer

The California Analytical Model 300HFID THC analyzer incorporates a heated flame ionization detector. The instrument, unlike most other THC analyzers, uses capillary tubes and electronic pressure controllers for gas pressure regulation. That means no more manual back pressure regulator! The instrument incorporates front panel diagnostics for troubleshooting. The instrument is set up for calibrations using propane gas standards, but can be re-optimized to calibrate using methane standards. Ranging is selectable from 10 ppm to 30,000 ppm.

MSA Model 8800 Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer

The MSA Model 8800 THC analyzer incorporates a heated flame ionization detector. The instrument is microprocessor controlled and also uses capillary tubes for gas pressure regulation. California Analytical Model 300FID
THC Analyzer (Unheated)

The CAI Model 300FID THC analyzer employs a flame ionization detector. Technician’s Notes All THC analyzers are set-up for propane calibration standards, but can be reconfigured for methane standards upon request. The instrument requires a blended fuel of 40% hydrogen and 60% helium and zero grade combustion air. Helium balanced fuel minimizes the oxygen synergism phenomenon and is recommended by US EPA. Both fuel and air can be obtained from Cherokee separately.

California Analytical Model 300HFID
THC Analyzer (Heated)

The CAI Model 300HFID THC analyzer employs a heated flame ionization detector, heated sample pump and heated flow path designed to maintain the sample gas above dew point until analysis. This instrument, unlike most other THC analyzers, uses capillary tubes and electronic pressure controllers for gas pressure regulation. This feature allows for automatic flame optimization at varying elevations. The analyzer includes front panel ignition and zero/span potentiometers.

Technician’s Notes All THC analyzers are set-up for propane calibration standards, but can be reconfigured for methane standards upon request. Most of these instruments require a blended fuel of 40% hydrogen/ 60% helium and zero grade combustion air. Helium balanced fuel minimizes the oxygen synergism phenomenon and is recommended by US EPA. Both fuel and air can be obtained from Cherokee separately.

California Analytical Model 300 HFID
Methane/Non-Methane Analyzer

The California Analytical Model 300 HFID THC analyzer incorporates a heated flame ionization detector and a proprietary hydrocarbon cutter. The cutter responds to better than 90% of the methane in a gas sample, while responding to less than 2% of the ethane and 0.1% of all other hydrocarbons. When in THC mode, the analyzer will respond to all hydrocarbons in a gas stream. In methane mode, the instrument will only respond to the methane in a gas stream. The non-methane content is the total hydrocarbon content, less the methane content. Ranging is selectable from 10 ppm to 30,000 ppm.

Service Note The California Analytical THC analyzers require the use of 40% hydrogen / 60% helium fuel. The MSA THC Analyzer can operate using either pure hydrogen or the helium fuel mixture. All the analyzers require an external combustion air supply. For extended use try our combustion air pack rather than compressed air.

California Analytical Model 300 HFID-M
THC/Methane Analyzer (Heated)

The California Analytical Model 300 HFID-M THC/Methane analyzer employs a single heated flame ionization detector and a proprietary hydrocarbon cutter. The catalytic cutter responds to >90% of the methane in a gas sample, while responding to <2% of the ethane and 0.1% of all other hydrocarbons. When in THC mode, the analyzer will respond to all hydrocarbons in a gas stream. In methane mode, the instrument will only respond to the methane in a gas stream. The non-methane content is the total hydrocarbon content, less the methane content. This instrument, unlike most other THC analyzers, uses capillary tubes and electronic pressure controllers for gas pressure regulation. This feature allows for automatic flame optimization at varying elevations. The analyzer includes front panel ignition and zero/span potentiometers.

VIG Industries Model 200-1
THC/Methane Analyzer(Heated)

The VIG Model 200-1 THC/Methane analyzer employs a single heated flame ionization detector and GC column for separation of the methane and non-methane hydrocarbon components. A sample is injected into the column and the methane component passes through to the detector; the remaining sample is then back flushed through the column and to the detector to obtain the non-methane portion of the sample. Sample loop duration is approximately 2.5 minutes.

Technician’s Notes This analyzer is set-up for blended propane/methane calibration standards. Single component calibration standards can be used but will greatly increase calibration time. The instrument requires a 100% hydrogen fuel, combustion air source, carrier gas and secondary air source for an air-actuated valve. Calibration standards, fuel and air can be obtained from Cherokee separately.

VIG Industries Model 210
THC/Methane/Ethane Analyzer (Heated)

The VIG Model 210 THC/Methane/Ethane analyzer employs two heated flame ionization detectors. One detector measures total hydrocarbons continuously; the second detector is coupled to a GC column for the separation of the methane, ethane and non-methane-ethane components. A sample is injected into the column and the methane component passes through to the detector; the ethane component then follows through to the detector for analysis. The remaining sample is then back flushed through the column and to the detector to obtain the non-methane/ethane portion of the sample. Sample loop duration is approximately 3 minutes.
